Reasons For The Economic Instability In The 1930s Politics Essay
Explanations behind The Economic Instability In The 1930s Politics Essay Theoretical: This paper looks at the explanations behind the flimsiness on the planet economy in 1930s. Initially, the fundamental driver are recorded and given brief diagram of the clarifications. The most point by point consideration is paid to the Hegemonic Stability Theory, as I trust it gives one of the most thorough responses for all the issues of the predetermined period. I likewise legitimately cited the vision of R.Keynes with respect to a portion of those issues. Taking everything into account I attempted to draw up a corresponding with the current real factors and point out fundamental exercises from the history and their impressions of the occasions of 1930s. The motivation behind why I picked this paper title is the way that the vast majority of the issues of the predefined period are as yet significant, yet they additionally straightforwardly reflect current real factors. As the old Kazakh axiom says: Tamyry zhoktyn erteni bolmas (Those who have no rootes [do not treat heritage], have no future). In this manner, it is imperative to consider the inceptions of the world emergency of 1930s, as it is regularly alluded to as one of the most exceedingly awful strife in the cutting edge world history for its spread, length, and profundity. The ongoing extended emergency is regularly contrasted with it recently. As any stream has loads of springs to begin from, the unsteadiness of world economy of 1930s began from many divided issues and occasions. The most generally acknowledged causes are: the finish of the Pax Britannica age, the World War I and its outcomes, the absence of authority from US, the breakdown of the best quality level, the riotous global financial relations in the Interwar time frame, crash of the liberal methodology in economy, the change to strengthened innovative headway underway and so on. The rundown of the causes can continue endlessly, because of the assortment of dreams and ways to deal with the issue. There are as much clarifications and speculations as much causes as recorded above and significantly more. As I would see it, the Theory of Hegemonic Stability (fundamental scholars: C.Kindleberg, R.Gilpin, and S.Krasner) offers the most far reaching response for all the issues of the predefined period. Under this hypothesis the world request is made sure about as far as dependability just under a predominant standard of one driving state. Kindleberg straightforwardly expresses that the primary explanation of the interwar emergency was the absence of will from United States to supplant the Great Britain as the domineering force. (Kindleberg, 1973). As it is legitimately expressed in the center books on IPE, all through the entire nineteenth century Great Britain had financial authority over the greater part of the world. As per Kindleberg, not until 1931 was it clear that Britain couldn't give the initiative. (1973) Incredible Britains matchless quality initiative was firmly related the receptiveness of worldwide exchange and capital developments, with the start of globalization of the business sectors, the ascent of first worldwide organizations, and the general monetary and political security of that period. World War I brought about the finish of British authority and the greater part of the conditions that it had advanced. Before long there was an expansion of the protectionism the whole way across the world and further uprise of territorial coalitions. Establishments of the worldwide economy were disintegrated by the decrease in capital versatility, which at long last brought about the developing financial flimsiness and the downturn. In this way, the general circumstance was not all that positive for the new hegemon. The reason for this unfortunate chain of occasions has frequently been laid at Americas doorstep. The United States was, toward the finish of World War I, the universes most grounded financial force. In any case, it relentlessly wouldn't take on the influential position that Britain could not play anymore. This unreliability was most clearly exemplified in the brains of numerous individuals by the notorious Smoot-Hawley Tariff (1930), which raised the normal assessment on imports to the United States by around 40 percent. Toward the start of the downturn, the United States shut its business sectors to remote products and along these lines moved the world economy into its most noticeably terrible swoon ever. The reluctance of the United States to arrange its fiscal and money approaches with different nations simply exacerbated the circumstance. This independent stance with respect to the universes monetary hegemon had negative ramifications for most different nations and the United St ates itself. (H.Milner, 1998) As expressed over the disorderly monetary relations that emerged in that period contributed essentially to the destabilization of the world economy. As states Kerry A.Chase, worldwide relations scholars trait the breakdown of the world economy into protectionism and adversary exchanging coalitions to worldwide causes, for example, authoritative decay, issues of aggregate activity and free riding, or the macroeconomic unsettling influence of the Great Depression (Kerry A. Pursue 2004). We find that the diverse money coalitions of the 1930s had totally different ramifications for exchange. Authentic territory nations exchanged excessively among themselves and with the remainder of the world. Gold alliance individuals, conversely, didn't exchange lopsidedly with each other or with the remainder of the world, mirroring their aimless utilization of levies and quantities to prop up progressively exaggerated monetary forms, which killed any boost got from swapping scale security. Nations applying trade controls, in spite of balancing out their trade rates, exchanged less with each other than their financial attributes would anticipate, because of the exchange hindering impacts of those policies.(Kerry A. Pursue 2004). Likewise, inside the Interwar time frame happened an accident of previous liberal methodologies in economy. The economy end up being unfit to control itself under another conditions and it at last prompted government mediation and formation of new financial model under the hypotheses of R.Keynes, or supposed Keynesian upset. He was among first specialists that worried on head contrast of new request and lack of ability of brief correction to it. As he expressed in his Economic Possibilities for our Grandchildren (1930): We are experiencing the developing torments of over-quick changes, from the agonizing quality of rearrangement between one financial period and another. The expansion of specialized proficiency has been occurring quicker than we can manage the issue of work ingestion; the improvement in the standard of life has been excessively snappy; the banking and money related arrangement of the world has been keeping the pace of enthusiasm from falling as quick as harmony requir es. (R.Keynes, 1930).â The war obligations and related issues are additionally continually referenced in the writing. Truly, there were champs and there were washouts. The contradictious reparation installment framework came about in take a stab at jusice, which further pre-set conditions for growing into World War II. Be that as it may, were war obligations truly influencing the economy inside the predefined period? At the finish of World War I, war-related obligations were about $12 billion, a sum more prominent than complete U.S. private long haul remote resources, and equal to maybe 15% of U.S. national pay. Each significant western nation owed something to somebody, however on net a large portion of the war obligations were owed to the United States by France, Great Britain and Italy; these four nations thus, were to get the majority of the installments by Germany on the reparations account. The biggest single net leaser was the United States. The biggest single net account holder was Germany. The warmed and extensive monetary discussion about war-related obligations, led with regards to enthusiastic good and political questions, delivered two unmistakable strains of thought: one was the notable conversation of move; the other, less sufficiently fused into the writing, held that the war-related obligations basically disturbed the universal budgetary framework, conceivably began the downturn, and presumably irritated it. No basic, direct line can be drawn, be that as it may, from war-related obligations to world monetary action: installments on war-related obligation were made during the 1920s with no conspicuous unfavorable impact on financial action; installments were dropped during the 1930s with no undeniable useful impact on financial action. In like manner, most records of the world discouragement place on components other than war-related obligations (H.Fleising), The disappointment of the highest quality level was likewise one reason for the world emergency of 1930s. Why? Natalia Chernyshoffa, states that gold had developed as the predominant money related system of its time and as a vigorous ostensible stay. She goes further and expresses: The case was made that it assisted with advancing global exchange and speculation, and the information currently back it up. Little miracle, at that point, that after the vicious interruptions of World War One the world tied down again to gold during the 1920s. Tragically, notwithstanding its past record for strength, the reconstituted best quality level fizzled; it is currently for the most part thought to have exacerbated unpredictability and contributed significantly to the Great Depression (N.Chernysheva, 2009). All in all I might want to attract a corresponding to these days. For as long as ten years there were steady predictions with respect to the so-since quite a while ago anticipated decay of US authority and brilliant rise of China as another world chief. Ongoing emergency made those cases sound stronger, in light of the fact that China is the main nation that kept up similar dependability and step by step began transforming into the biggest leaser. It effectively obtains resources around the world (for the most part vitality sources, yet inspired by money venture too), assumes progressively predominant job in provincial and increasingly dynamic job in global associations. With certain errors, yet all things considered, we may see the New China similarly as the world saw New US toward the start of XIX century. There are additionally constant discussions with respect to the last development of brought together Europe, which may dominate the current US and proposed Chinese strength. What's more, there is a savvy mix of all recommendations announcing the New Order by the triangular US-Europe-China strength. The equivalent

An Analysis of the Kite Runner Essay Example for Free
An Analysis of the Kite Runner Essay An examination of The Kite Runner ââ¬Å"For you, a thousand times overâ⬠Made by Hasnen Ali Introduction The Kite Runner is an unprecedented book, which reminds us to what extent the Afghani individuals have been battling to triumph over the powers of savagery. In light of the books solid story, we get an understanding in how individuals may have encountered the emergency in Kabul, despite the fact that itââ¬â¢s been appeared through a book. The writer Khaled Hosseini was a rehearsing doctor until after the bookââ¬â¢s discharge. This was additionally his first novel, which was discharged in 2003 and ended up being a universal blockbuster. Despite the fact that the tale of The Kite Runner is anecdotal, itââ¬â¢s dependent on a genuine story and furthermore on Hosseiniââ¬â¢s recollections of experiencing childhood in Kabul. This additionally implies the class of the book is anything but an anecdotal novel (many glance at it that way), however a verifiable novel. As indicated by an article in USA Today, The Kite Runner has sold more than 1. 4 million duplicates, which is a remarkable deal for a first time creator. The story recounts a kinship between two young men experiencing childhood in Kabul. Despite the fact that they were brought up in a similar family unit, Amir and Hassan are from two ââ¬Å"different worldsâ⬠. While Amir is the child of an affluent and regarded man (Baba), Hassan is the child of the family hireling (Ali). The most significant factor in the story is the connection among Amir and Hassan. Their interweaved lives and destiny, shows that all through the story despite the fact that, when their relationship was indivisible in the beginning. They despite everything figure out how to get isolated through envy. After five years, during the Soviet occupation, Amir and Baba are compelled to escape. They spend their new lives in California, and Amir begins a vocation as a creator. Despite the fact that Amir believes that he has gotten away from quite a while ago. He despite everything can't leave the memory of Hassan behind him. Setting The story utilizes two principle settings. One is Afghanistan and the other is California. We could likewise say that the story is isolated into three segments: the recollections of pre-strife Afghanistan, changing in accordance with life in America, and coming back to Taliban controlled Afghanistan. There is huge distinction between these spots. While Afghanistan used to be a sheltered and tranquil country, their notoriety totally changed after Taliban began controlling the nation. The nation is likewise depicted as an annihilated and abandoned spot, while California is appeared as an approach to get away from their issues in Afghanistan. California will consistently be an a lot more secure spot to live, for both Amir and Baba, however Baba despite everything misses Afghanistan, since he used to be rich and regarded. He misses Kabul in light of the fact that in California, he is totally the inverse. He works at a corner store for a long time, and through the book we can feel that he misses nearly everything about his past home. Itââ¬â¢s imperative to comprehend their battle to adjust to their new home, since it shows how unique Afghanistan is from California, and we additionally improve comprehension of the story. Structure and characters The Kite Runner begins with an anonymous storyteller, discussing his past and how itââ¬â¢s been influencing him for the last twenty-six years. The storyteller additionally gives us signs to what may occur, and the difficulties that will emerge. In the wake of experiencing a couple of sections, we become acquainted with the primary characters better and their issues. The characters that we initially meet are Amir and Hassan. Amir is the storyteller and the fundamental character all through the story. He is an Afghan man with an uncommon adolescence. Through the greater part of his life Amir attempts to reclaim his notoriety according to his dad as he believed he was answerable for his motherââ¬â¢s demise. He additionally needs to demonstrate to his dad that he isnââ¬â¢t a weakling, and need to turn out to be increasingly similar to Hassan. Hassan is Amirââ¬â¢s closest companion during his adolescence and he is additionally his worker. Hassan is known for his reliability and solid connection to Amir. Later in the story, itââ¬â¢s uncovered that Hassan is Amirââ¬â¢s sibling. This implies Amirââ¬â¢s father had an unsanctioned romance with Aliââ¬â¢s spouse, and that Hassan is really his child. Hassan was likewise known for start the best kite sprinter in Kabul. Baba is an affluent and regarded man, however gets poor after he escapes to America. His relationship with Amir is tempestuous, and he needs Amir to become like Hassan, solid and bold. Ali is Hassanââ¬â¢s father and Babaââ¬â¢s closest companion. He is a Hazara, yet he got indistinguishable qualities from his child. Ali grew up along with Baba, similarly as Hassan and Amir did. He got a debilitation also; despite the fact that it doesnââ¬â¢t prevent him from start an unwavering worker. Rahim Khan is Babaââ¬â¢s dearest companion and one of only a handful scarcely any individuals who realize that Hassan is Amirââ¬â¢s sibling. He is the one that gets back to Amir to go to Afghanistan. Assef is a harasser and is answerable for the assault of Hassan. This person is additionally a devotee of Hitler, which obviously makes him a sociopath. At the point when he turns into a grown-up, he additionally joins the Taliban. He likewise has disdain towards the Hazara individuals, and likes to segregate them. Soraya is Amirââ¬â¢s spouse and has problematic past. She additionally deals with Baba, when he is wiped out and receives Shorab without questions. Sohrab is Hassanââ¬â¢s child. He additionally has a significant impact in the book. Assef oppresses him after he is taken from the shelter. Since Amir is the primary character in the book, he additionally grows above all the characters. We notice first that he gradually betrays Hassan, his indignation and envy develops one way, despite the fact that Hassan doesnââ¬â¢t do anything incorrectly. The assault of Hassan is actually an occasion that further isolates their relationship. Since there is such a great amount of dramatization in this book, it doesnââ¬â¢t end yet. At the point when the Soviet attacks Afghanistan, Amirââ¬â¢s family escapes to another nation, ignorant that they lose the greater part of their riches. Just because they experience how it is to be poor. Later in the book Amir gets a call from Rahim Khan and comes back to Afghanistan. He gets some answers concerning Hassanââ¬â¢s child Sohrab, and is resolved to carry him back home to America. Before he could spare Sohrab, he needed to confront Assef. Getting beaten by Assef and sparing Sohrab could be viewed as a last method to make up for himself. This additionally caused his blame to vanish. Subjects and tones In this story, there are a variety of topics we could examine like model: tormenting, kinship, blame, double-crossing, kite, respect, recovery, father and child relationship, manââ¬â¢s cruelty to man, separation and devotion. There is a ton of ethnic separation in Afghanistan and particularly the contention between the Pashtuns and the Hazara. The connection among Pashtuns and Hazaras has never been steady; since Pashtuns are for the most part Sunni Muslims and the Hazara are Shia Muslim. The Hazara has been separated generally due to their confidence, language and facial appearance. In the book Ali is faithful to Baba, in light of the fact that Babaââ¬â¢s father received Ali after his folks kicked the bucket. From that point forward Baba has consistently followed his fatherââ¬â¢s model and consistently been thoughtful to the Hazara individuals. Blame is additionally another subject that is raised. After the assault of Hassan, Amir can't stand to be around Hassan, on the grounds that it helps him to remember that day. He even misleads Ali, and says that nothing occurred. The issue with Hassan is that he assumes the fault for everything and he doesnââ¬â¢t need to hurt Amir. In any event, when Amir advises Hassan to hit him with the pomegranate, he can't. When Hassan crushes the pomegranate on his own brow, Amirââ¬â¢s blame turns out to be much more terrible. At long last Amir makes Hassan and his dad leave, Hassan still thinks about Amir his closest companion. The story is written such that it despite everything influences you after your done perusing. Despite the fact that itââ¬â¢s a dim story with a great deal of misery for the individuals in Afghanistan, there still is some expectation and bliss. Respect is communicated from multiple points of view, yet the statement ââ¬Å"for you, a thousand times overâ⬠is an extraordinary case of how they communicate. Decision The kite is a topic in the book that speaks to opportunity, despite the fact that youââ¬â¢re not in completely in charge of the kiteââ¬â¢s destiny. I think the subject depicts the destiny of Amir and how he creates all through the book To me the story as said before is a chronicled novel, and not an anecdotal novel. This is on the grounds that itââ¬â¢s dependent on a genuine story and encounters Hosseini had when he was experiencing childhood in Kabul. I as essayist of this examination is a Hazara, and I comprehend what sort of enduring the Hazara individuals have experienced. Here and there I feel that Hosseini may be Amir, yet they sure have a few similitudes. Symbolism in The Valley of Ashes Essay
Symbolism in The Valley of Ashes Essay In this novel F.S. Fitzgerald tells us about a great social and moral decline of the USA. He conveys this concept through a great number of symbols. The novel is abundant in them. As far as the valley is concerned, it can be explained as the main symbol of decline of people. In this valley, all objects and living beings are composed of symbolic ash and dust, which directly depict a barren land. Dust is associated with the smallest particles of matter of no value. However, these particles may interfere with seeing the truth. In fact, it is something that lies on forgotten objects that no one cares about and the ashes remain from what burned and turned into dust. These words are often found in the work and indicate a decline in all spheres of human life. They are symbols of what remains after the destruction or destruction of matter, thanks to which an increment of meaning is created in the representation of the basic concept: the dream of the protagonist is unachievable. Describing the ash valley, the author widely uses color symbols such as a gray color. Gray means the disappearance of hopes and dreams. It symbolizes decadence, monotony, disappointment. It represents moral decay, spiritual emptiness and death. In addition to the direct name gray color, in the description of the valley of the ashes also used color names: chimney, smoke, dimly, powdery, air, ghastly creak, leaden spades, impenetrable cloud, obscure operation, bleak dust. The uniformity of color epithets describes the psychological state of the characters. The valley is literally defined through its name. This is a farm of ashes and slag, the harbor of all the poor in New York in the 1920s. It is made up of the remnants of incinerated garbage from New York. People in this place are more like shadows. The word shadow carries an important semantic message, this word is link between the valley of the ashes and the Wilson garage and even with by the owner, by combining these three images into a single symbol of misery and poverty. Dreary backdrop is a contrast to East and West Egg. It contrasts sharply with the worlds of Gatsby and Daisy. The only attraction is the billboard with the image of the blue eyes of the doctor oculist T. J. Eckleburg. His eyes express sadness piercing the whole work. They symbolize the indifference with which the characters perceive other peoples misfortunes. The eyes are half way between West Egg and New York hanging over the characters they seem to personify the idea of a god looking at the materialistic and careless world of The Great Gatsby. All this is aimed at creating an atmosphere of despondency, melancholy of indifference as a contrast to the noisy parties of the jazz century, with its desire for pleasures and a carefree idle life. This symbolizes the decline that was in society at a time when people pursued wealth and glamor at all costs.

This can be achieved by designing quality tests. This paper talks about an approach that would help testers to define a right test pyramid and to design better tests based on the code/test coverage measurements that contribute to developing and testing a better quality product for our customers. This shall also enhance the testability of the product code by providing feedback to both testers and developers on the risk ofâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Code coverage framework for program analysis Test (or) Code coverage is a measure used to describe the degree to which the source code of a program is tested by a particular test case/suite. In other words, Code coverage is a way of ensuring that your tests are actually testing your code. Coverage acts as an effective approach to determine the efficiency of your test case (or a set of test cases); knowledge of the internals of the object being tested shall be known to (white/black-box) test and helps in test case optimization. There are many different coverage measures. A simple one is to record which lines of code were executed. If a line has never been executed, it s a safe bet you didn t catch any bugs lurking in it. This type of coverage is usually called statement coverage. Other popular coverage measures include branch, method/function, path and condition coverage. 2.1 How Code Coverage works: Code coverage measures are generally implemented by inserting reporting instructions into program. It can be really utile to affect employees in this procedure, for illustration: to carry on brainstorming Sessionss, because there can be chances that can easy cut down the environmental impact. Aims and marks should be specific, accomplishable and mensurable. During and after execution of an EMS, alteration and rectification of the marks and aims should be portion of the monitoring and supervising procedure. Environmental policies should be apprehensible by every employee and employer of an administration to accomplish the marks and aims of the administration. Doing is the execution procedure of the plan to understate environmental impact and hazard of an administration. Harmonizing to ISO14001, the disposal of an administration should name a particular, trained direction representative to guarantee execution of the EMS. The EMS representative is responsible for monitoring, measuring, coverage of EMS public presentation to head direction and control activities that have important environmental impact. The EMS representative should besides collaborate with others to modify EMS as needed. All staff, whose activities can do important environmental impact should be trained on important environmental issues. Relevant staff should be trained on environmental policy, exigency, accomplishment of environmental marks, specific EMS functions and duties, the environmental impact of their occupation activities and effects in instance of relevant staff non following their relevant EMS duties. All processs and instructions to command important environmen tal impact and to place possible accidents, which could hold an impact on the environment must be clarified and documented. Activities of every employee have an impact on the environment and every employee should hold good thoughts associating to their experience about the betterment of environmental public presentation. That ââ¬Ës why it ââ¬Ës really of import to develop communicating in an administration by regular staff and safety meetings, suggestion boxes, newssheets etc. Effective communicating may assist an administration ââ¬Ës EMS execution to actuate people, better apprehension of environmental policies, functions and duties, importance of environmental public presentation betterment and placing possible for betterment. The cardinal function of disposal is to supply resources to employees, which are necessary for an EMS plan execution. Some people, such as clients, registrars, and authorities administrations can be interested to cognize the EMS design and execution of the administration. For these grounds, every administration should hold an EMS manual or EMS description papers. Documentation is one of the of import factors of effectual EMS direction. EMS paperss should be revised on a regular basis by responsible forces, who will do alterations as and when required. Certain operations and activities should be monitored and controlled to pull off important environmental impact and to guarantee that the processs implements to accomplish marks and aims. Operational control processs should be documented, particularly those where breach could take to important environmental impact. The possibility of accidents and incidents ever exist, even in malice of the best execution of an EMS theoretical account. Decrease of hurts, bar of environmental impact, protection of employees and understating losingss can be done by effectual preparation and readying to exigency state of affairss. The readying for exigency state of affairss can be provided by: capacity appraisal for incidents and accidents ; preventive steps on these accidents and incidents, related to environmental impact ; doing programs and processs to react to exigency state of affairss ; regular control and monitoring of the programs and processs and understating environmental impact related to these accidents and incidents. All EMS executions, processs and instructions should be continuously revised and updated. Checking is the assessment procedure, which assesses the effectivity of the plan and evaluates how execution of the plan meets plan aims. The assessment procedure is based on monitoring and measuring of environmental public presentation betterment of an administration. Internal audits are measuring whether the EMS of an administration meets the demands of ISO14001. Internal environmental hearers should be trained on appropriate issues. The effectivity of an EMS mostly depends on monitoring facets, which deals with disagreements of criterions. Monitoring and measurings helps an administration to measure environmental public presentation, conformity by the legal demands, place jobs, analyze root causes of jobs, happening ways to rectify jobs and bettering public presentation and effectivity. Identification and probe of jobs and their causes allows an administration to do disciplinary and preventive steps for the hereafter. Prevention of jobs is by and large far more cost-efficient than repairing them after the fact. Evidence of a on the job EMS is records. Record direction seems a bureaucratic procedure, but on occasion administrations need to supply EMS execution grounds to the 3rd parties ( e.g. clients, some authorities administrations and the populace ) . Administration of an administration decides what records should be kept, how and how long to maintain them. It ââ¬Ës really of import to stress needed EMS records to show execution of environmental public presentation betterment. Regular audits can be peculiarly valuable by supplying nonsubjective grounds that an EMS is implemented harmonizing to the demands. Regular audits critically evaluate the effectivity of EMS execution, consistently place and describe to disposal of administration on a deficiency of EMS execution. It provides a great chance to better activities on EMS execution, better environmental public presentation and do the system more cost-efficient. Acting is based on the appraisal procedure to take action for continual betterment of an EMS, which is performed by caput direction. The policy of EMS, objectives, marks and action programs must be reviewed annually by members of the Environmental Management Committee. Results of the EMS execution reappraisal should be reported to head direction, demonstrate to staff and happen out marks, aims, related actions and other elements of EMS that need to be changed. Management reappraisal is an of import cardinal component of an EMS for continual betterment, which besides provides a great chance for EMS execution to be effectual and low-cost. The procedure of a direction reappraisal should affect competent people, who have appropriate cognition and experience and who are decision-makers of the administration. All direction reappraisal meetings should be recorded and supply inside informations on what issues were discussed and what determinations and actions are selected for implementing. Question: Discuss about the Cash Flow Statement of JB HI-FI Limited. Answer: Introduction In this report an adamantine study has been prepared on the cash flow statement of JB HI-FI limited. It is Australian company engaged in providing goods and services specialized in video games and other home appliance. Richard Murry is the CEO of the company who makes all the strategic decision. It is evaluated that annual report of company has been showing computation of cash inflow and outflow from all its activities by using direct method. A complete analysis has been made on operating, investment and financial activities of JB Hi-FI limited to evaluate liquidity position of company in effective manner. Body context Evaluation of cash flow statement of JB HI-FI Ltd Cash flow statement of JB HI-FI provides liquidity position of company and determines how much cash inflows and outflow of company for a particular time period (Roth, 2017). Particular 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 Net operating cash flow 215.01 156.4 41.3 179.9 185.14 Net Investing cash flow 0.270833 0.766638 2014.036 2195.167 1.449026 Net financing activity 2227.01 2169.4 2055.3 2194.9 2201.14 Analysis of cash flow from operating activities It is evaluated that JB HI-FI since last five years has reduced its cash inflow from its operating activities. In 2012, JB HI- FI was having 215.01 cash inflow from its operating activities which decreased to 185.14. This has shown company has reduced its cash flow from is operating activities. However, more deep analysis could be made by computing operating cash flow ratio (Google Finance, 2017). Particular 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 Operating cash flow ratio 0.489772 0.353846 0.11733 0.473421 0.414183 It is evaluated that in 2012, JB HI- FI was having .48 operating cash flow which has been reduced to .41 in 2016. It reflects that company has been inefficient to draw good amount of cash inflow from its current liabilities engaged in its value chain activities (Brigham, and Ehrhardt, 2016). Capital expenditure ratio This ratio measures the capital available for internal reinvestment and for payment on its existing debts. However, by evaluating this ratio it could be inferred that JB HI-FI do not have adequate cash flow CAPEX requirement. Nonetheless, cash inflow from capital expenditure would be found lower in growing company. Therefore, JB HI- FI could justify its lowers amount of cash inflow to its stakeholders (Nizam Hoshino, 2016). Particular 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 Capital expenditure ratio 0.27083 0.76664 0.03576 0.26715 1.44903 Computation of cash flow statement from indirect method (ASX, 2016) Adjustment to Cash flow Statement of JB HI FI for fives years Particular Fiscal year is July- June and all values in AUD Million 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 Amount in Million Amount in Million Amount in Million Amount in Million Amount in Million Net income before extraordinary 104.6 116.3 128.4 136.5 152.18 Depreciation, Depletion, and amortization 30.75 33.23 35.33 39.12 40.19 Deferred Taxes Investment Tax Credit 1.61 -2.4 -3.3 Other funds 3.2 6.75 4.91 5.7 9.05 Funds from Operations 149.02 156.62 168.89 178.92 198.79 Changes in working capital 74.81 -0.2053 -127.56 0.98 -13.65 Receivables -0.441 -1.12 -6.17 -10.84 -13.65 Account payable 98.95 -19.48 -88.21 25.69 58.19 Other assets -2.74 5.23 3.14 6.34 6.51 Net operating cash flow 215.01 156.4 41.3 179.9 185.14 Investing Activities Capital expenditure -46.08 -35.31 -35.91 -42.47 -52.34 Sales of fixed assets 1.26 1.2 0.674 0.496 0.342 Purchase of investment -4.2 Other investment -3 Net assets from acquisition -2.4 Net Investing cash flow -44.82 -38.31 -38.236 -44.374 -51.998 Financing activities Cash dividend -77.03 -65.26 -77.18 -87.17 -93.21 Sale of Common Preferred Stock 3.51 1.08 21.4 3.1 5.91 Issuance/Reduction of Debt, Net -84.19 -26.84 54 -40.11 30 Net financing activity -157.71 -91.02 -1.78 -124.18 -57.3 Net Cash Flow from all activities 12.48 27.07 1.284 11.346 75.842 Conclusion It is observed that company has positive cash inflow from its operating activities. In addition to this, financial and investing activities have been providing negative cash outflow. JB HI- FI need to increase its liquidity position otherwise it will result into jeopardize situation for the business functioning of company. Moreover, since 2012 to 2016 company has reduced its cash inflow from its operating activities from 215.01 to 185.14. Nonetheless, cash outflow from its operating activities has increased by 16% in 2016 as compare to its 2012 cash outflow from its investing activities. Now in the end it would be inferred that company need to main its cash flow more than 1 for the smooth running of business (Thomson Reuters, 2016). References Brigham, E.F. and Ehrhardt, M.C. 2016. The second thing is the development of an official policy that encourages creativity in the workforce. He also talks about charisma that is geared towards bringing forth empty words that have few actions. He rather advocates for a leadership that is capable of enforcing what they have believed in. Critically Evaluate Two or Three Approaches to Ideology and Their Essay
Critically Evaluate Two or Three Approaches to Ideology and Their Relevance to the Student of Media - Essay Example 234). One of the reasons for this malaise over the impact of the media is because it is a more formidable source of cultural acquisition and socialisation than books and other cultural institutions, especially for young people, because, as Gross has pointed out, even at the university level, young people are largely influenced by audio-visual media, their primary cultural reference (cited in Hall 1992, p. 88). Yet theorists and critics have argued that the media isnââ¬â¢t ideologically-neutral, rather, contrary to appearances, it is a purveyor of dominant ideology. According to Murfin & Ray (2003) ideology is ââ¬Å"a set of beliefs underlying the customs, habits, and practices common to a given social group. To members of that group, the beliefs seem obviously true, natural, and even universally applicableâ⬠(p. 208), regardless of whether they are held or acquired consciously or unconsciously. The term first came into critical use in Marxist thought, when Karl Marx, along with Frederich Engels, offered his critique of capitalist societies in The German Ideology (1844) and other writings. For Marx, society is structured and divided along lines of economics and class along two major axes: those who control the means of production (the ruling class or elite) and those who do not (the masses or proletariat). The wealthy elite, in order to maintain their position of privilege and the economic machinery from which their position and power emanated, had to put structures in place that would reinforce their authority and undermine that of the w orking class (Rivkin & Ryan 1998, p. 253). Marx calls these structures or institutions the ââ¬Ësuperstructureââ¬â¢: law, politics, culture, religion, education, and they emerge from and in accordance with the economic base, with the aim of exploiting the working class (Murfin & Ray 2003, p. 244). Marx criticises capitalists societies which he sees as ââ¬Å"riven from within by â⬠¦ ââ¬Ëclass struggleââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (Rivkin & Ryan 1998, p.

Habits Of Highly Effective People Philosophy Essay
Habits Of Highly Effective People Philosophy Essay Reading this inspiring book I have discovered that to achieve the highest level of self-discipline we need to have 7 habits. By saying habits it means these 7 behaviours pattern must form our everyday pattern of behaviour no exception. This book has opened my eyes on some fundamental facts or habits that shall make me a successful person and achieve high personal achievement. Be more confident on taking decisions and reflect on my strength and weaknesses. The book talks about habits that most effective have them and that made them successful. He said that we make habits and then habits make. We are what we repeatedly do. (Aristotle) Ashe is talking about leadership he mentioned that leadership precedes management. The difference between management and leadership is that management is formal authority while leadership is Moral Authority. Overall the book was interesting and I would like to comment on the main topics covered in the book. The Maturity Continuum is in three steps Dependence This is personal achievement Habits 1, 2, 3 Interdependence This is public achievement-Habits 4, 5, 6 Interdependence-Habit 7 In maturity continuum at dependence stage it is YOU, in independence stage it is I and in interdependence stage it is WE. These are the stages of perfection and optimization that a successful leader should achieve. Habit1. Be Proactive In habit 1 the author is suggesting that one shall be proactive and not reactive. He introduced 3 values in life: the experiential which comes through experiments, creative which come by our creation attitudinal which reflects our response to different situations. By being proactive I can read the surroundings and react upon things by facing the facts but with our own power and control we can response positively. I liked the way he talks about using our energy and power of influence in the right circle. He calls it the circle of influence and the circle of interest. In the circle of influence we have the power to change things but in the circle of interest we may not have the power of change, by concentrating on circle of interest we are just losing our power without we can make any changes; this is not the case if we concentrate on our circle of influence. In proactive approach we make mistakes, acknowledge and correct them. Being in our influence circle is all about proactive. Human Endowments Exercise human endowments imagination and conscience keep promise start small start with yourself never promise too big and deliver too low strong independent will is much inner power swim upstream Become transitional Stop transmitting negative actions of others Be true proactive , not reactive Influence others by my behaviour Make a space between Stimulant and Response so there is a gap for thinking Have principles We have the freedom of choice so we are responsible on our actions Paradigms I take responsibility of my action and choice I am capable of expanding my freedom and influence by proactive behaviour Having the above traits, the process Any reactive tendency I have , I change it to proactive I increase my circle of influence To become transition person so I benefit and others Exercise human endowments mentioned up Habit2. Begin With the End in Mind Focussing on goals is what we always need to do. Our personality has 3 different leadership qualities leadership management productivity Covey quotation in his book from Peter Drucker and Warren Bennis, management is doing things right, Leadership is doing the right things (1).This statement was so powerful and straight to the point which tells all about leadership in very simple and profound words. With the goal in mind we can design the start and focus on our goal and get the results we imagined. He suggests that we visualize things and focus on them so they interweave with our life experience. Things can go as we imagined because we put energy and focus on them and make things happen. I liked the author words mental creation precedes physical creation Effective people shape their own future Use whole brain (left and right) Have a personal mission statement, do incremental changes to the goal but dont change the core. Personal mission statement should answer the questions: What I am about? What do I leave behind? What characters Id like to emulate? What are the important I want? How I can use the right brain? And so on the list goes on. Benefits By doing this it encourages you to think deeply about your life, discover our inside thinking, expands perspective, visualise our goals desires and being the auto pilot to be on the right track. Refining By studying the lives of people we admire we can refine our mission statement Read poetry and inspiring literature Keep a list of trait s characters you like to develop Visualise what u want to be in 10, 20, 30 yrs. List the important things Testing mission values Timeless proven Represent the best inside me Inspire me the right direction Security and comfort to me approach and integrate the 4 basic human needs For example we should reflect upon Mahatma Ghandi mission of every day: I shall not fear any one on earth I shall fear only god I shall not bear ill toward any one I shall not submit to injustice from anyone I shall conquer untruth by truth And in resisting untruth, I shall put up with all suffering Process Create and apply daily living personal and organisational mission statement Envision the desired results and important values to guide activities. Anyone cannot do the right thing in one part of life while he is doing wrong things in any other parts, because life is one invisible whole (Ghandi) Summary of this part is: Choose a life centre Personal mission statement Habit3. Put First Things First So when you want to do something, plan, design and do it. By using calendar and notes list diaries we organise things and put priority on them .we cannot control time but we can manage our or organise ourselves to do tasks. The tasks can be classified in 3 different priorities: Urgent, Important, Not important. I Important and urgent II Important and not urgent III Urgent and not important IV Not urgent and not important We will make things bigger and bigger till it will dominate us and absorb our power by only focusing on Quadrant IQI in the table because it is urgent. The most important one is QII. Effective people are more interested in QII. They do not act in III and IV which are not important and stay in I and II but give more time to II and make I smaller Effective people do their time management by focusing on activities in QII because they are important and those activities have big impact in our life, so we must focus on them. Effective managers focus on results and not on methods so subordinates can choose the method and by this approach best results can be achieved because the subordinate have come up with their own visions or means to do it; it is their visions and not somebody elses. Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and he will become as he can and should be (1) We only need time management to organise ourselves to do tasks. Time management can be looked at from three different angles -we believe that we need more timeà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦Ã ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦..but you have all the time is there -we believe that we can save timeà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦Ã ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦Ã ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦Ã ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦..time is equally given to all and we have to spend it -we believe that we can manage timeà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦Ã ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦. We can manage ourselves not time This simple comparison show how thinking has changed Old generation new generation Efficiency effectiveness Practices principles Management Leadership Schedule Relationship Urgent things First Things In control Illusion In Alignment I liked the way the author talked about building emotion bank account. It is a brilliant idea to gauge our account statement and see where the pluses and minuses, i.e. the deposit and withdrawal. He said that to build emotion account we basically have six major deposits, when we do negative things we withdraw from the account and when we do positive things we deposit the account. These deposits and withdrawal are our actions. Examples of deposits that we can make are by: 1. I see what is important for the other person and make it important to me also 2. I attend to small things that are seeing big things to the other to strengthen the relations 3. I keep promise, by not committing to fulfil; it is a big withdraw 4. I must clarify expectations. The author says this is the most damaging part of relations. Explain the role, term and goal. By clearing this upfront, it will save much of time and effort later. 5. I show personal humour and integrity. Be consistent when dealing with groups or individuals. The author says that you must remember how you treat one is how you treat the all others because all is the sum of ones 6. I should apologize when do mistake sincerely and it will be deposit. Priorities The most important things should come first before the less important Improve product/product capacity balance within my circle of influence I fulfil my mission by acting on important Goals in my key roles. Process Focus on important things and NO to unimportant things. Focus on QII activities and gradually Q1 activities will be covered or merged in QII, QIII and QIV will go away. Habit4. Think Win-Win Human relations based on one of these transactions: Win-Win both mutual benefit Win-Lose it is competition if I win you must lose and the relation is authoritarian Lose-Win the leadership is permissive Lose-lose when people try to make others lose even if they lose Win Win-Win or No Deal Win-Win both parties are winners or no deal and no loser. This is the beginning of relations and if no benefit then not a deal once in relation after some time the parties move to Win-Win if they have built the trust. Four dimension of Win-Win: Character: integrity, maturity, abundance mentality Relationships: demonstrate honesty, loyalty Believe in the best of others, clear expectation, accurate in time and honest in communications, treat others with respect and respond to their needs, focus on positive and use feedback for improvements. Agreements: desire results, guidelines, resources, accountability , consequences- achieve win-win or not Systems Processes Persist on looking for win-win results despite the past win-lose condition. Principles Effective long term relationship require mutual benefit I seek the benefit of others as well as my own I get better results by cooperating interdependently that by competing independently Win-Win relations should be focused on win-win with trust. Performance agreement will define the relation and it will be from vertical to horizontal where partnership or team work. the agreement set standards where people measure their performance: define the results, parameters Resources-human, financial, organisation support Accountability the time and standards Consequences what will happen Reward is very important system in Win-Win. If reward is used in win-lose, the system will have negative effect. If rewarded few in the Win-Win system, others are losers .Best is to set individual goals within the overall win goals so all can get rewarded. In competitive market win-win situation should be existed to make win-win to all participants but lack of confidence and trust is the main culprit. Win-Win is a third alternative, it is not my not your way but it is a better way. Habit5. First Understand, then be understood The beauty of this part lies in the art of listening. Which is very important element in gaining the hearts of the others and I believe it is on the top list of communications skills. We tend to prescribe things before listening deeply to the problem and diagnose what is needed. Be a good listener is a key to success. We listen not just for listening but to deeply understand the other party frame of reference and feelings. Listen with ears eyes and heart. Diagnose before prescribe things is not a professional approach. Understand what the customer needs is and give solutions. Amateur salesperson sells product BUT professional salesperson sales SOLUTIONS. Listen not by mouth. Listen to give answer. Listen with ears eyes heart In 75% of waking life, we learn reading, writing, speaking and listening.40% is listening alone. Every hour of understanding save 10/20/50 hours of problem solving arise from not understanding. Empathy listening is the key to the art of listening. Words we say represent 7%, nonverbal body language is 38%, the way we say words (emphasis) and sounds we make is 55% of the speech. So communication is seeing and feelings. It is mainly attitude and partly skills. The one who listens does most of the work not the one who speaks. Everyone is single and unique who will listen then? It is said that walls have ears. However some ears have walls. These words were very powerful on me and I have reflected upon them for a while. They are so true and profound and full of wisdom. Habit6. Synergise Simply it means all or total is greater than the sum of the parts or ones. Its value comes from valuing each other competencies and differences respect them and try to complement each other hence we get the complete picture which individually cannot be completed because o these differences and weaknesses. Cooperation builds trust and needs to interweave with each other. By having synergy mission it will be part of every body mind and heart and not individual concern when it is made by others. Ground rules for synergy try to adopt win-win way of thinking and mentality keep your heart, mind open to new alternatives and possibilities appreciate and respect value others opinions, views, and solutions The third alternative Negotiate and communicate till find a solution that we all feel good about It is not my way nor your way it sis the a better way We both can be right but we dont agree I must listen and if I dont agree I say: this is how I see it, not you are wrong Humility-I have my own experience though a life trials and errors. Take the others experience that took them a lifetime of understanding as a gift given to you for free. The main drive for synergetic approach is answering the question: Would you be willing to explore a solution which might be better than what we suggest? The principles of synergy are: Valuing differences of others and looking for a third alternative Doing work together takes time but produce better long term results Human problems can be solved by using habits 4, 5, 6, Habit7. Sharpen the Saw The principles of balance self-renewal You should work in a proactive way as mentioned before in the QII quadrant to refresh the dimension of ourselves physically, mentally, spiritually and socially. Live-Physical, basic wealth Lovesocial LearnMental Leave a legacyspiritual These when integrated they produce Fire Within Four dimensions of renewal Physical This is concerned about physical wellbeing by good eating and having good sleep and relaxation with exercise, stress management, sleep and rest, regular medical check-ups healthy habits and lifestyle. Spiritual Is inside us and it is a self-monitoring commitment to our values and it drives us by giving inspiration and uplifting to deal with human beings Create mission, review and refine Watch nature and reflect Study literature of great people Appreciate music and art Religious worship, yoga and meditation Mental dimension Keep the mind always fresh and sharp- with all the knowledge by reading writing planning and open mind to others to get new ideas. Read and read and read he says 12 books a year. Most professions have half-life of 4 years. Solve puzzles, play mental games, continue education, listen to music, be aware of TV it can be an open sewer into your home. These are the suggestions of the author and I completely agree with him. Social/emotional It is showing by our interactions with others and how we focus on them. A Rhetorical Analysis ââ¬ÅThe Effects of Violence in Childrenââ¬â¢s Cartoonsââ¬Â
Rhetorical Analysis ENGL 102-07October 03, 2012 A Rhetorical Analysis of Editorial, ââ¬Å"The Effects of Violence in Childrenââ¬â¢s Cartoonsâ⬠Claim: That children's cartoons today are too violent and that these cartoons are greatly affecting their behaviors growing up. That violence is a learned behavior and therefore children that view violence can become violent themselves. The purpose of the argument is to raise the awareness about cartoon violence and come up with some solutions to lessen its negative impact on the children that are watching them. The primary target audiences of this argument are those that have the most direct contact with children, mainly their parents and teachers. Faced with the increasing popularity of animation, they feel that youngsters are developing a cartoon mentality, confusing fantasy and reality, and are imitating the actions they see on the screen. The author feels very strongly about the message he is trying to make and uses emotional, log ical, and ethical triggers throughout the article to make his point and bring the reader over to his idea. ââ¬Å"this is a big dilemma because the media is promoting violence as an acceptable solution for children who may not know any better. â⬠] (PATHOS) This statement seems to be an attempt to shock the audience to the idea that there is purposeful plot by the media to teach children that violence is an acceptable way to act. [ââ¬Å"If a child is growing up in a home where Dad is beating up Mom all the time, the child is going to learn that hitting is an acceptable way to handle problems. This child is much more likely than other children to grow up to handle problems the same way and become a violent adult himself. The same can be said for cartoon violence. â⬠] (PATHOS) The reader is given a comparison between witnessing domestic violence and cartoon violence. The author makes the argument that both will lead to a child becoming a violent adult. [ââ¬Å"We cannot deny that children's violence has increase drastically in recent years. With things such as school shootings, bullying, daredevil stunts, peer to peer violence, and children killing parents we as a society need to be alarmed. ] (PATHOS) By using terms like ââ¬Å"shootingâ⬠and ââ¬Å"killing parentsâ⬠the author is hoping to connect with the audienceââ¬â¢s fear that cartoon violence could lead to drastic results. [ââ¬Å"TV has even become known as ââ¬Å"America's baby-sitter. â⬠(Krieg). Meaning that parents are now using the television as a way of entertaining their children while they attempt to accomplish other things such as cooking and cleaning. â⬠] (PATHOS) This statement tries to prompt a sense of guilt in the audience that they are are just sitting their kids in front of the television instead of being attentive parents. ââ¬Å"On average and American child will watch 32 acts of violence per hour on TV. This number has skyrocketed from 20 years ago when it was just 12 acts per hour (Krieg). This being said a child will have watched anywhere from 8,000 to 100,000 acts of violence before they even finish elementary school (Weiss). â⬠] (LOGOS) This seems a logical premise to help substantiate the authors point and uses a research example as evidence. [ââ¬Å"It was found in one study that what a children watches on TV at age 8 will be one of the best predictors of how aggressive they will be as an adult. The children's TV viewing outweighed other factors such as child-rearing practices and socioeconomic factors (Grace). Grace also found that what a child watches after age 8 is not nearly as important as what they watch before age 8. â⬠] (LOGOS) Again, this seems logical and uses a study to show evidence. [ââ¬Å"We can start by creating a better rating system that gives parents more information about what the shows content is. This could be similar to the more recent movie ratings (Gardner).DIC is the largest supplier of chil dren's programming and they have come up with a 12- point code for the makers of these children's shows to decrease the violence (Weiss). â⬠] (LOGOS) The author evokes some possible solutions to that may help resolve some of the problem with identifying violent cartoons. [ââ¬Å"We have now seen all the facts on both sides of the argument. Is should be clear that we are faced with a very devastating problem. Our only hope is that we can do enough so that this next generation of children is not so violent.Maybe one day we can come to the point where children are so used to watching wholesome quality television that these violent shows will die out. â⬠] (ETHOS) We do not know who the author is here. Is it a parent, teacher, or maybe a psychologist? The use ââ¬Å"weâ⬠and ââ¬Å"our only hopeâ⬠seem to play on the conscience of the reader that we are all in this together, and together we can find a solution to cartoon violence. The author cites numerous reasons to prove and validate his point, such as the increase in violent acts per hour on television, and percentage of teachers that have reported increases in classroom violence. However, there is no evidence given that ties cartoon violence directly with this. It seems most of the article is the authors interpretation of the topic. He even goes as far as to say that those that disagree with his point are absurd. Is it possible that children become violent from what they see in cartoons? Maybe. But all cartoons are not the same. I think it is ignored that many cartoons also teach children important social and cultural lessons on such as honesty, kindness, and sharing.

Analysis of Anselmââ¬â¢s Ontological Argument Essay
This premise does not state that Godââ¬â¢s strengths as this argument is to prove his existence, not whether or not God is all-powerful, all-knowing and all-good. The second premise means this greatest possible being is either an imaginary being that one has thought of or, a being that we not only is not only thought of but also exists. The third premise and its sub premises states because existing in reality is greater than existing in thought, then the God we have thought of exists in reality or there must be a greater, or more perfect, being that does exist and that being is God. This leads to the conclusion, if you accept the premises then you accept the existence of the greatest being possible, God. This concept of Godââ¬â¢s existence is also led with the idea that God is a necessary being, a being that is not dependent of something greater in order to exist. If God relied on another being, like how a children rely on parents to conceive them, then this being called God is not God because it would be imperfect. Therefore, there must be another to call God that meets all the requirements for perfection. One of the first popular objections was created by Gaunilo of Marmoutiers. The premise and conclusion to Gauniloââ¬â¢s argument is identical to Anselmââ¬â¢s argument except with the replacement of the word ââ¬Å"Godâ⬠with ââ¬Å"the Lost islandâ⬠and the word ââ¬Å"beingâ⬠with ââ¬Å"islandâ⬠. As simple as that, though Gauniloââ¬â¢s argument is completely absurd, Gauniloââ¬â¢s reductio ad absurdum also proves to be as deductively valid as Anselmââ¬â¢s argument. However, this ââ¬Å"Lost Islandâ⬠could in no way exist. The absurdity and validity of ââ¬Å"the lost islandâ⬠quickly brought up questions as to how Anselmââ¬â¢s Argument cannot be absurd. Anselmââ¬â¢s argument was not proven invalid until Immanuel Kant, a german philosopher during the 18th century, proposed an objection that would be the decisive blow to the Ontological argument (Immanuel Kant. Wiki). Kantââ¬â¢s objection is how existence is not a predicate (Mike, screen 25). A predicate is used to describe something the subject (this being God in Anselmââ¬â¢s Argument) is doing. In Aselmââ¬â¢s Argument, Anselm premise rely on that being conceived and existing in reality is something that describes God. This rationality does not follow because to exist or conceive does not describe the subject, it only tells us whether it exist or not. Much like how fictional characters do not exist, describing cartoon for example would tell us details of what this cartoon looks like, what its habits are and common antics it goes through, but not whether it exists or not. The question of existence must fall in a separate argument that does not define the character. As there are Arguments to prove God, there are debatable arguments to disprove the God. The First version of ââ¬Å"The Argument from Evilâ⬠goes as follow: 1. If God were to exist, then that being would be all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-good. 2. If an all-PKG existed, then there would be no evil. . There is evil. [Conclusion] Hence, there is no God (Sober, 109) The first premise is the definition of what God would be if he were to exist. That is a being that has the power to do anything, had knowledge of everything throughout the span of time and is in all ways good. The second premise is created with the first premise in mind. To expand on the second premise i t states, if God were all-powerful he could stop any form of evil from happening, if he is all knowing then he has knowledge of when evil will occur and if he is all-good then God would stop all evil from happening. If god cannot stop all evil from happening then the definition of God must be incorrect. He then must not be powerful enough to stop all evil, and/or he doesnââ¬â¢t know when evil until it has already occurred and/or good is not all good in that God does not wish to stop all evils. The third premise is stating the fact that there is evil in the world. The conclusion derived since that there is evil, then is what may be defined as God must be lacking in one or two of his qualities and therefore God, by definition, does not exist at all. In order for God to be compatible with evil, God must only allow the evils that would, in turn, lead to a greater amount of good and must take the route that leads to the least amount of evil to gain the greatest amount of good. The soul building defense was created in mind that evil and God co-exist in our world. The defense is that without any evil in the world, our souls would not nurture, or, understand the concept of evil. This defense does not hold true because there has been many evils in the world that seem unacceptable, even though it may have been for the purpose of soul building. God, and all-good being, would then only allow the evils that are essential in soul-building. This would only mean that evil that man commits against man. The reason for this is because anything that happens in nature exceeds soul-building essentials. Another defense is God having given us free will, humans ultimately are the causes of this evil. That is true but the common objection to this is that human do more than enough evil to ourselves, it is going too far to have God throw tornados, volcanic eruptions, and hurricanes at us too. At what point do human have such control over nature. The last defense is that God simply works in mysterious ways. Who can explain why natural events take so many lives and injure many others or why some children have to go through great deals of suffering and live through it? It is Godââ¬â¢s way and ultimately, no matter how incomprehensible the evil is, it is for the greater good. Certainly the question to Godââ¬â¢s existence has been pondered upon by philosophers for over a very long period of time with no progress as whether God exists or not. The ontological argument created by Anselm withstood a great deal of criticism until it was disproved by Kant over 600 years after the fact.
